Q1. What are OPEN_FORM, CALL_FORM, NEW_FORM? Explain the difference between them? There are three different forms in Oracle. They are as below:
CALL_FORM: This form is used to call other form but here the parent remains active. When the form that is being called completes its operation it releases a lock that is applied and the control goes back to the calling function. When you call a form Oracle form issues a save point for the form that is called. When CLEAR_FORM is called then it rollbacks to uncommitted changes to this save point.
OPEN_FORM: When a form is called a save point is issued for the called form. When using this form, if CLEAR_FORM function causes a rollback then the called function becomes the current one. Once this is done Oracle forms rolls back to the uncommitted changes to the last save point.
NEW_FORM: This form exits the current form and enters the form that is indicated. The form which is calling is terminated as this is the parent form. Oracle forms tend to keep all higher call active and treat them as a call to a new form when a form is being called by a higher form. These forms release memory that the terminated form was using. Also if parent form was the form which was called then the new form also has the same options as the parent form.
